It has been almost 10 years since Rihanna first covered the August 2017 issue of Paper Magazine during her “Good Girl Gone Bad” era. Since then there has been a whole lot of looks and bold fashion statements from Rihanna. It seems every album released ushered in a new era in fashion for Rihanna and her fans, the navy. Some of my favorite fashion eras are the looks from the “Loud” era (every single look with that red hair was perfection) and from more recent times, her long dreadlocks.
This cover to me is full circle not just for Rihanna but for stylist Fucci. Fucci is a stylist that rose to fame with the help of Rihanna. She loved the Polyvore looks her created and encouraged him to do more of that. Now Fucci is signed to Wilhelmina and is one of the stylists to look out for in the fashion industry. His looks are very edgy with an urban twist and that is what is brought to this cover story. The theme of this editorial must have been “ghetto chic“. Rihanna portrays an ultra high fashion ghetto queen in this editorial. The colored hair and colorful clothes are trade marks of the beautiful African-American fashion. Can’t get enough of this. Fucci and Shannon Stokes took Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Acne Studio and other beautiful brand and translated them into a perfectly executed vision. Congratulations to the Island Princess and Fucci on another beautiful work done.
