Proenza Schouler says goodbye to New York and hello to Paris
Proenza Schouler, a staple in New York fashion week, is now moving their operations to Paris. This is sad news to the New York fashion crowd and good news to the Parisian fashion crowd. The Paris fashion week line up is already strong with most of the biggest brands on it. Proenza Schouler would be a welcomed addition.
The collection from designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, creative directors of the label, had a few beautiful details that stood out. The jackets this season had the same masculine touch that we saw in the Thom Browne show. These jacket, some with fur detail, long sleeves, big pockets or all three, were paired with beautifully tailored pants. Another thing about this collection is the lines. Proenza Schouler had a version of the wrap dress that wasn’t smooth and had a long belt holding it together at the waist. Flat sandals whose ribbons like straps wrapped around the ankles of the models. The most interesting thing about this collection is the lines in the dress. Proenza Schouler used lines and color to take break the silhouettes of the dresses. The eye then doesn’t follow the silhouette of the models but is forced to dance around the body of the model. This and the fact that the clothes were stunning put this collection at the top of New York fashion week this year.
