People are outraged with Burberry for hiring Brooklyn Beckham, son of David and Victoria Beckham, as the new photographer in charge of their Burberry Brit Perfume campaign. They are being called out on it by all the fashion bloggers and photographers out here but lets be honest people this is not the first time.
Children of celebrities have always had it easy in the industry. Do you expect Blue Ivy to struggle when she wants to put out a single or North struggle to get custom made Balmain or even possibly an ad campaign? No because the have a recognizable Hollywood name. Is that fair no but it happens.
I understand this point of view tho. It seem like it has been on the rise these days and people are now realizing it and standing up against it. Nepotism has brought us Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid and we all know how I feel about them. I believe people need to work for what they have and even if it is handed to you, you should work twice as hard to prove to people that you actually deserve it.
With Brooklyn I don’t know much about him but from what his parents say he is very hardworking but they are his parents, they have to say that. But I recall Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham saying on the Ellen Degeneres show that Brooklyn works part time washing plates at a restaurant and I found that admirable. If my parents were David and Victoria Beckham I wouldn’t lift a finger to do anything else apart from calling the train of maids I would have.
Burberry’s Creative Director and CEO Christopher Bailey defended the decision, saying “Brooklyn has a really great eye for image and Instagram works brilliantly for him as a platform to showcase his work. His style and attitude were exactly what we wanted to capture the spirit of this new fragrance campaign.”
So Brooklyn prove everyone wrong and give us one of the best Burberry Brit perfume ad campaign the brand has ever seen and if you fail I am sorry but I will have to drag you filthy.
Best of luck.
